Dr Karuga is from Colombia and studied medicine in Warsaw Medical University in Poland. While working in Poland as a medical doctor, she completed Paediatrics and Family Doctor training.
She moved to Australia in 1998 where she continued working in paediatrics and in 2011, while doing missionary work in Kenya with The World Vision International/ Samaritan Purse, the vision of her career direction changed.
